Wonderfully bright and vibrant in colour, turmeric sits high on the antioxidant scale. It is well known for its anti inflammatory properties with studies indicating it may be helpful for sufferers of joint pain, thanks to its active compound curcumin. Black pepper contains the active ingredient pipeline, which is believed to enhance the absorption of curcumin.
INGREDIENTS (makes 1 cup)
1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric
1 cup almond or coconut milk (or milk of choice)
1 tablespoon coconut oil
Since ground cinnamon
Pinch black pepper (more if you can take it!)
1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger, optional
1/2 teaspoon vanilla, optional
Combine all the ingredients in a small saucepan and heat gently until warmed through. Stir with a spoon to combine then pour the milk through a sieve.
Place in a blender and bend until frothy, or use a milk brother to froth.
